I’m responding to a thread on “Understanding Sustainability and Sustainable Development” in Systems Thinking World on LinkedIn. There has been about 587 responses on that thread, and I’m responding to some comments around August 26.
One of the participants mentioned the SENSEable City Laboratory at http://senseable.mit.edu. @davidhawk said “If we could get David Ing, who shows up on these systems sites, to share some of his day-job work at IBM, on “smart cities,” we could look at a more comprehensive approach to the MIT lab thinking’s and beginnings.”. @phoenix nudged me on that, but I’ve been buried of late.
I’ve blogged about Smarter Planet as Converging digital and physical infrastructures: instrumented, interconnected, intelligent previously. In addition, we’ve had some discussions on System of Systems in this forum.
In my day job in Canada, I’ve been working on a Municipal Reference with MISA Canada. The project executive, Roy Wiseman, spoke in February at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and in July at the ISSS Waterloo meeting. If anyone is interested, I can describe more.
