Systems biology, seeing properties in organisms not in the parts, arose from advances in computing in larger datasets, says David Weinberger.

The influences between culture and education in a society are circular. “Decades ago, when the Finnish school system was badly in need of reform, the goal of the program that Finland instituted, resulting in so much success today, was never excellence. I will definitely check your link about Technological Transition. For one essay this topic is too large, but as an idea of mixing different disciplines and researches, I think is good.
          Thank you again, David!

You are obviously a big thinker, Roman. (Welcome to the world of systems!) Please don’t try to cover all of this in your final paper for this class – or I won’t live long enough to grade it. But it is very worthwhile to see what sense you can make of some of the linkages between support and collapse. Looking at the model of complex adaptive…[Read more]

Your post is nicely done, Anahita. Choosing both articles about Living Systems – the theory and an application – is a good way to help make sense of some very complicated ideas.

(And you’re welcome, for the lectures.)

You are right, Haeyeon, there is no one, absolute or panacea model. But you have done a very nice job of summarizing three important and useful ones.

Very nicely done, Jin. You have applied the systems principles well to a very real and important topic. (And of course the real work is in designing a truly sustainable alternative, which would actually be adopted in the markets of the world.)
